Leather Binding, Original Binding

In the original French. With information on dislocations, fractures, tumours, ulcers, haemorrhoids, and amputations. Jean Louis Petit was a French surgeon. He was the inventor of the screw-type tourniquet. Petit was the director of the French Royal Academy of Surgery, and was greatly admired for his skill and experiences. He had been working on his general treatise on surgical operations for twelve years.

Condition

In the original quarter calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with rubbing to the front joint resulting in a very little loss of leather. Minor rubbing to the paper to the boards, with further rubbing to the extremities resulting in a little loss. Bumping to the extremities. The odd light spot to the fore edge. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned, with the odd scattered spot, heavier to the first and last few pages. Pages are a little cockled. The very odd pencil annotation.
