In October 1837, surveyor and author William Laxton founded the monthly periodical 'The Civil Engineer and Architects Journal'. This was filled with relative information to the architectural and engineering worlds, with articles on railways, engines, prominent buildings, Cathedrals, including illustrations of important establishments, such as Bristol's Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the National Bank of Glasgow.

Condition

Bound in the publisher's original wraps. Externally, worn, with wraps detached or partially detached to most volumes. Lacking rear wrap to part 93. Tears and creases to the wrap extremities. Lacking backstrip to 1 and 60, with tears to joints to most volumes, heavier to 52, 53 and 104. Ink inscription to the front wrap, with age toning to paper. Internally, binding is strained in places, particularly to 57, 61 and 102. Pages are age toned, with light marks in places.
