Translated from the original French into Italian by Felice de Bensis, Salvatore de Benzi and Achilles de Benzi.

The first volume only of this four volume work. First published in France in 1832, it was not translated into English until 1856.

A prominent French anatomist and surgeon, Alfred-Armand-Louis-Marie Velpeau was a skilled surgeon and renowned for his knowledge of surgical anatomy. He was the author of over 340 titles on surgery, embryology, anatomy and obstetrics, and is credited with providing the first accurate description of leukaemia.

In this volume, amputations and aneurysms are discussed.

Condition

In a quarter calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Light fading and rubbing to back strip, most concentrated to spine heads and tails. Hinges strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
