Illustrated, Leather Binding

This poem was Rogers' longest work, as well as being his last. It was written inspired by his 1814 journey travelling through Switzerland to Italy, on which he kept a diary of the events and his impressions of the trip.

Illustrated with in-text engravings.

Written by Samuel Rogers, a Romantic English poet who is often overshadowed by his contemporaries - Byron, Wordsworth, and Coleridge.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing to the boards and spine. Small crack to the head of the front joint. Minor bumping to the extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age toned with some spots. Faint tide mark to the head of the final fifty pages.
