The title loosely translates to 'Egyptian Grammar, or General Principles of Egyptian Sacred Writing Applied to the Representation of the Spoken Language'.
With beautiful hieroglyphics throughout, some in colour.
Champollion was a French philologist, best known as a decipherer of Egyptian hieroglyphs and was a founding figure in Egyptology.

In half crushed morocco binding and marbled boards. Externally, sound. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some wear to the leather to the extremities including some slight loss. Prior owner's ink inscription to the first free endpaper and title page. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with some occasional light spotting.
