A very scarce work.

A Latin commentary on three Arabic texts, 'Risalah fima yanbaghi an yaqdum qabl ta'allum al-falsafah' and 'Uyun al-masa'il' by Abu Nasr al-Farabi, and 'Qasidah fi 'ilm al-mantiq' by Ibn Sina, or Avicenna.

In two parts, with thirty-four pages of Arabic text following the Latin commentary, paginated in Hindu-Arabic numerals.

An interesting discussion and commentary on Arabic philosophy as it was during the prominent Islamic Golden Age in the Early Middle Ages.

This was a pioneering work when it was published.

Al-Farabi was a renowned early Islamic philosopher, typically known as 'The Second Teacher' is philosophical tradition. He is credited with having preserved the original Greek texts during the Middle Ages.

Avicenna was one of the most significant figures of the Isalmic Golden Age, and is considered to be the father of early modern medicine.

Condition

In a half morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. A very small chip to the fore edge of the rear board. A few light marks to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Evidence of the marbled paper having been restored by a prior owner. Small amount of paper loss to the front board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean, with just a couple of handling marks to the title page. Chip to the fore edge of two of the Arabic leaves, no affecting text.
