    The collected poems and letters of Thomas Gray. Also including his various other works, including essays on architecture and art.

    Gray is best known for his poem 'Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard'. However he was an incredibly self-critical poet, and only published thirteen poems during his life.

    Gray was offered the position of Poet Laureate, but turned it down. He is considered to be pre-Romantic.

    Including a life of Gray, and an interesting essay on the poetry of Gray.

    Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece to Volume I.

    Edited by the Reverend John Mitford.

    Condition

    In a half morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Light rubbing to the spines and boards. Spines are lightly faded. Very minor bumping to the extremities. Bookplate to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with a few odd spots. Dedication leaf of Volume I has been removed. Mark to the last few pages of Volume II.
