Comprising 'The Book of Common Prayer' and 'The Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments, translated out of the original tongues; and with the former translations compared and revised by His Majesty's special command'.
Each inscribed to the verso of the front blank: 'To Susanna Mary Churton, from her affectionate Godmother, N. S. W., 8 Nov 1839'. The Holy Bible also has the inscription by Susanna Mary Churton, 'To Caroline Mary Inge from her Grandmother, S. M. Inge, Jan 9, 1912'. Susanna Mary Churton married Reverend Inge.
In a beautiful and smart contemporary full crushed morocco binding, with delicate gilt detail to the spines and boards.
With a handwritten morning prayer loosely inserted.
Complete with an original slipcase.
A delightful nineteenth century Holy Bible and Book of Common Prayer.
Condition
In a full crushed morocco binding complete with a morocco slipcase. Externally lovely, with just the slightest rubbing to the spines. Slipcase is a little worn, with the front and base flap loose, rubbing along the joints and some edgewear. Gift inscriptions to the verso of the front blanks. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
