What Our Customers Say...

Description

Early Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

The second edition of this work, which was first published in 1832.

Illustrated with sixteen lithographs from the author. Collated, complete.

Gilpin was a remarkably successful landscape gardener and designed. Throughout his career he worked at hundreds of sites, including Blayney Castle, Wolterton Hall and Scotney Castle.

Features enjoyed and employed by Gilpin included amoeba-shaped flower beds, gently curving paths through irregular shrubberies, and raised terrace walks.

With the armorial bookplate of Augusta Gertrude Knox Gore to the front pastedown, an Irish heiress who had Cill-Alaithe House (Killala House) Co. Mayo designed and built for her in the 1890s.

A beautiful guide to nineteenth century landscape gardening.
