What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding

The first edition of this work. A collection of poems by Samuel Rogers, a nineteenth century Romantic poet. Illustrated with head pieces and numerous in-text engravings throughout. The collection includes 'The Pleasures of Memory', 'An Epistle to a Friend', 'From a Greek Epigram', 'The Sailor', 'To Two Sisters', 'To a Friend on His Marriage', 'To the Butterfly', and many more. Rogers has been eclipsed now by his contemporary Romantic poets, but during his life he was one of the most celebrated Romantic poets. As well as being an accomplished poet, he was a discerning art collector. Illustrated with engraves after Joseph Mallord William Turner and Thomas Stothard.

Condition

In a full morocco binding. Externally, smart. A little rubbing to the spine. A few very light marks to the boards. Front hinge is a little strained but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the occasional spot.
