Maria Edgeworth was an Irish novelist of both adult and children's literature. 'Helen' reflects her early feminist and political views, urging for further political participation and emancipation of women.

Condition
In half calf binding and marbled boards. Externally, very smart. There is some minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Prior owner's ink inscription to the half title. Pages are bright and clean with some spotting to the endpapers.
