These reports concerning Metropolitan Hospitals were conducted and compiled due to the major expansion of hospitals in London during the period of 1860 to 1890. These reports offer incredible insight into the operation of Victorian medical facilities in London.
These copies were previously housed at the Royal College of Surgeons, and each contains a library stamp to the title page. The Report on Medical Education from 1834 also contains a small ink inscription stating 'Secretary's Office'.
Condition
Uniformly rebound in paper covered boards. Externally, smart, with some light shelf wear and a few mark to the boards and spines. Library stamps to the title pages of all volumes. Internally, generally firmly bound. Amateur tape repair to the gutter of the title page of the Second Report from the Select Committee of the House of Lords. A few chips and closed tears to the title page of the Second Report from the Select Committee of the House of Lords. Pages are slightly age-toned to some volumes, and there are a few handling marks to the first and last few pages of The Report on Medical Education from 1834, otherwise pages are generally clean throughout.
