Written by Irish novelist William Hamilton Maxwell.
Illustrated with frontispiece, engraved title page and monochrome vignettes throughout.
The work presents information about British sports and pastimes in alphabetical order; "a short and lucid compendium of all matters connected with the field, and which might be considered interesting to the sportsman".
Condition
Bound in half calf, with cloth boards. Gilt lettering to spine. Generally smart, with rubbing to spine and joints, and wear to extremities. Tidemark to frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned, with handling marks throughout. Significant closed tear to page 239, and loss to page 49 and 225 resulting in slight loss to the text. Heavy spotting to first and last few leaves.
