Description

Illustrated, Leather Binding

Written by Thomas Stackhouse (1756-1836), an English antiquary strongly interested in the archaeology of early Britons.

Bound by R. Hynes of Dover.

Illustrated with forty lithographic plates. Collated, complete.

Two volumes bound as one.

A scarce examination of the remnants left by the Ancient Britons.

Condition

In a half calf binding. Externally the leather is worn to the joints and the extremities, as well as the head and tail of the spine. Contemporary ownership inscription to the head of the frontispiece. Internally, binding is generally firm, with slight strain to the front hinge at the title page; some tape repairs to the gutter. Pages are a little spotted throughout. A corner of the title page is lost not affecting the text.
