Description

Published between 1831 and 1835, The New-England Magazine was published monthly in Boston. Conceived by Joseph T. Buckingham and his son Edwin, it published forty-eight editions, and contained the first published edition of many early short stories by Nathanial Hawthorne, as well as writings by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Oliver Wendell Holmes, Sr. 

Including the writings of Edgar Everett, John Farra, George H. Calvert and John Quincy Adams.

Volume III, containing the writings between July and December of 1832. 

With the ownership inscription of Blummingdale to the front pastedown.

Condition

In the publisher's original paper covered boards. Externally rather worn. Backstrip is loose, with the tail of the spine lacking; front board is also loose, with wear to the extremities and edges. Internally, binding is tender. Pages are occasionally a touch age-toned, with wear to the edges and an ink stain to the foredge.
