Description

First Edition, Original Binding

This novel follows Lord Castleton, whom the author decides to allow to 'speak for himself' when titling the work in the advertisement.

Written by Constantine Henry Phipps (1797-1863), a British Whig and author. His other works included 'The English in Italy', 'Historiettes' and 'Matilda: a Tale of the Day'. He also served as Home Secretary between 1839 and 1841, and was British Ambassador to France between 1846 and 1852. This was his last work.

Complete in three volumes.

A first edition of this very scarce work.
