Description

Leather Binding

John Milton (1608-1674) was an English poet and civil servant for the Commonwealth of England, later under Oliver Cromwell. His epic poem 'Paradise Lost', written in blank verse, is renowned and hailed as one of the greatest works in English literature, and tells the biblical story of the temptation of Adam and Eve and their subsequent expulsion from the Garden of Eden. He was admired by the likes of William Blake, Thomas Hardy and William Wordsworth.

Complete in three volumes.

Contains his works 'Paradise Lost', 'Paradise Regained', his poetry, sonnets, psalms, and libers in Latin, as well as a biographical sketch of the author.

Volume I contains a frontispiece portrait of the author.

Condition

In a half calf binding. Externally generally smart, a touch rubbed to the hinges. Internally firmly bound, pages bright and clean bar minor offsetting to the title page of volume I.
