Fifth edition. Scarce work. With a portrait frontispiece. A collection of letters written by Sir Thomas Stamford Bingley Raffles, a British colonial official who served as the Governor of the Dutch East Indies and Lieutenant-Governor of Bencoolen. from the summer of 1817 in which he travelled through France, Savoy, Switzerland, Germany, and the Netherlands. With reference to places such as Dieppe, Paris, Versailles, Geneva, Morat, Kehl, Strasburg, Frankfort, Cologne, Brussels, and more.
Condition
Bound in full cloth. Externally, smart with minor bumping to the extremities. Light fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Splits in the cloth to the joints with minor loss to the head of the spine. Front hinge tender. Internally, firmly bound with frontispiece loosening slightly. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light age toning to the extremities.
