    Description

    In the original French.

    First published in 1817, this three volume edition is greatly expanded.

    All three volumes bound in one, retaining their individual title pages.

    An impressive reference guide to monograms, numbers, initial letters and watermarks, and the names designed by various painters, designers, engravers and sculptors.

    With errata to the rear of volumes I and II, and an appendix to the rear of volume III.

    Volume I dedicated to 'Les Monogrammes', volume II to 'Les Lettres Initiales', and volume III to 'Les Noms Abreges et Estropies'.

    Condition

    In a half morocco binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Light rubbing to back strip head and tail, joints, board perimeters and raised bands, with further rubbing to centre of boards. Head and tail of front joint strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age toned due to paper type, with significant spotting to title pages and page perimeters, and some instances of foxing.
