    Description

    Folding Plates, Illustrated

    Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece and title page to all volumes. Folding facsimile plate to volume IX. Lord Byron was a British poet and leading figure in the Romantic movement. He had several well known lengthy narrative poems in addition to his short lyrics. Some of these include Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and She Walks in Beauty. This set is complete in seventeen volumes and is in a uniform cloth binding.

    Condition

    In uniform cloth bindings. Externally, generally smart with bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Small amount of rubbing to the boards. Front hinge to volume I has failed after title page, with endpapers and title pages bound to pastedown. Backstrip is lifting at front hinge to volume I. Rear hinge to volume I is slightly strained but firm. Front hinge to volumes II, XVII and VI are slightly strained but firm. Rear hinge to volume III has failed with the final few pages attached to the pastedown. Front hinge to volume V is tender. Rear joint to volume XII is weak with the hinge failed. This has caused the backstrip to life at the rear joint. Front hinge to volume XII is weak and held by one cord only. Rear hinge to volume XIV is tender at page 353. Loss to the head and tail of spines to volume II. Bumping to the head and tail of all spines, which are faded. Internally, bindings are strained in places. Frontispiece to volume III is detached but present. Binding to volumes III, IV, V, VII, VIII and IX is tender and loosening in places. Pages are slightly age toned with heavy spotting to engraved frontispiece and title pages. Instances of scattered spotting.
