Tobias Smollett's last of the picaresque novels, considered by many to be his best and funniest work. 

An epistolary novel sharing satirical observations on English and Scottish life, manners, and politics, provided from the various points of view of six characters. The story was inspired from the author's travels in Scotland, France, and Italy. 

With a memoir of the author by Thomas Roscoe.

Condition

Rebound in full orchid polished calf, gilt tooled spine and boards, gilt edges, titles in gilt to morocco spine labels, new marbled endpapers. Externally smart with minor shelf wear, rubbing to spine, minor chipping to head of spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean.
