Illustrated with seventy-five plates. Collated, complete.
The first series only of this work, with a second and third series published in the following years. These volumes were considered to be the standard reference works for Gothic architecture for at least the next century.
A wonderfully illustrated volume from the architect remembered for his role in the Gothic Revival style of architecture, with his work culminating in the construction of the iconic clock tower of the Palace of Westminster, housing Big Ben.
Condition
Rebacked, in the publisher's original cloth binding with boards restored and back strip laid down. Discolouration and minor losses to spine label. Retaining the original endpapers. Front hinge lightly strained, but holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting and handling marks throughout.
