First Edition, Very Scarce

The first edition of this work, disbound but intact. An address to New York citizens concerning the establishment of a university in the city, printed after a meeting held about this subject, with Morgan Lewis in the chair and Hugh Maxwell as secretary. This meeting was the beginnings of New York University (NYU), originally named the University of the City of New-York, which was founded in 1831 as a private research university. This address promotes the aims and values which originally begot the idea of this university.

Condition

Disbound but intact. Externally sound, with faint tidemarks to the title page, which continue through the work. Remnants of the binding to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with the occasional spot, except for the last few pages which are more heavily spotted.
