John Murray's edition of the collected works works of Romantic English poet Lord Byron in four pocket sized volumes. In uniform morocco bindings complete with half titles.
Byron was an infamous figure of Romanticism known for his mannerisms and particular character. He was made famous in his time by his long autobiographical poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage and his many love affairs, and is better known today for the satiric realism of Don Juan. His poetry is characterised by the use of blank verse, allusive imagery, heroic couplets, and complex structure.
With engraved frontispiece to each volume. Collated, complete.
Condition
In uniform full morocco bindings with four raised bands, gilt tooling to spine boards, gilt to edges. Externally smart with light shelf wear, lightly rubbed to head and tail of spine and back strip. Hinges slightly strained to title page vol. I, holding firm. Half title to title page vol. IV held by one cord only. Internally, binding generally firm. Minor odd light spotting to odd leaf, pages otherwise generally very clean throughout.
