'Prometheus Bound' is an Ancient Greek tragedy typically attributed to Aeschylus.
Blomfield was a divine and classicist, and a bishop for the Church of England for thirty-two years.
Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down and stamp to the recto to the front endpaper, 'W. Hopton'.
Condition
In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Spines and joints are faded. A small patch of loss of paper to the rear board. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down and stamp to the recto to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots, mostly to the first and last few pages. The occasional pencil note to the text.
