Bound in half calf with marbled paper-covered boards.
Written by The Author of Letters From The East, being the British traveller and author John Carne. Known for his articles contributing to Henry Colburn's 'New Monthly Magazine', Carne was an esteemed storyteller, telling tales of the far-off lands he visited, as well as of his home country.
This particular collection surrounds his home county of Cornwall, drawn from Carne's personal observation, or founded upon the communication of his friends. With themes of mining, Cornish legends and traditions.
Containing four short stories to volume I, the continuation of the fourth tale and three further stories to volume II.
Bound with the half title to volume I.
Volume I is mispaginated with the final page reading 317 instead of 315.
Condition
Bound in half calf with marbled paper-covered boards. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to boards and extremities, with the odd mark. Hinges have been internally reinforced. Endpapers renewed, blanks retained. With the half title to volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with light scattered spotting.
