Complete in two volumes.
A collection of seven essays centred around the Napoleonic Wars, in particular the Peninsular War of 1807 to 1814.
Contributions include Adam Neale's essay on the 1808 Spanish Campaign, Sir John Hope on the despatch after the Battle of Corunna, John Malcolm's reminiscences of a campaign in the pyrenees and south of France, and anonymously written essays on the Battle of Waterloo and the death of Napoleon.
Each volume illustrated with an engraved vignette title.
Part of the series 'Constable's Miscellany of Original and Selected Publications in the Various Departments of Literature, Science, & The Arts', of which these are volumes XXVII and XXVIII.
Condition
In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Spines are a little faded. Minor marks to the boards and spines. Light bumping and rubbing to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with a few spots. Prior owner has written the page numbers to the contents page in pencil.
