The eleventh edition of this work. This work discussed the nature of prayer, advising the reader on how to go about different forms of prayer. The volumes also discusses praying in public, private, or with family, as well as analysing the different forms of prayers such as a private morning prayer, an evening prayer, and a Sunday prayer. Edward Bickersteth was a bishop for the Church of England, also working as a missionary in India, Japan, and the Middle East. He was also an accomplished poet, writing and publishing his own hymns. With an engraving to the title page.

Condition

In the original half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, with rubbing to the joints, head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities, resulting in some loss of leather. Further light rubbing and marking to the boards and spine. Front hinge is starting to the tail but remains firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with only the odd spot. The very odd pencil annotation to the margin.
