The scarce first edition of this Poll-Book for the 'contested election' of the June 20th to July 6th, 1826, county of Northumberland election.
This volume includes various papers, addresses, songs, and other printed election literature produced during the contest between candidates Henry Thomas Liddell, Matthew Bell, Thomas Wentworth Beaumont, and Henry Grey, Lord Howick.
Arguments between canditates resulted in a duel between Beaumont and a supporter of Bell, though neither was injured.
Rebound in half cloth, with endpapers removed.
With a former owner's inscription, dated 1927, to the head of the title page.
A fascinating account of a tumultuous election.

Rebound in half cloth, with marbled paper covered boards. Endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. inscription to head of title page. Pages lightly age toned, with instances of spotting, and with handling marks throughout.
