'Historic Doubts Relative to Napoleon Buonaparte', by Richard Whately.

Whately was an English academic and philosopher, known for his flamboyant character, and for being one of the first reviewers to recognise the talents of Jane Austen.

'The Pamphleteer' was a popular periodical, highlighting important essays on history and politics and publishing them as a bound collection.
