    General Maximilien Foy's first hand account of the Peninsular War, during which Foy fought in the Battles of Bussaco, Salamanca, Vittoria, and Orthez.

    Foy offers a detailed history of the war and the decisive actions of those involved.

    Illustrated with a frontispiece to Volume I, and one folding table to Volume II.

    Collated, complete.

    Prefixed is a view of the political and military state of the four belligerent powers.

    Bookplate of Moragn George Crofton to the front paste downs, his ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpapers.

    Condition

    In a half calf Zaehnsdorf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Spines and extremities are a little faded. Light rubbing to the spines. A few minor marks to the boards. Bookplate to the front paste downs. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age-toned and clean, with only a few light spots.
