Forms part of the Dove's English Classics series, published by John Fowler Dove, with each volume containing classic literary works, such as this. Each book in the series was illustrated with a frontispiece and an additional engraved title page.
This particular volume is comprised of a selection of poetical works by English poet, editor and satirist, William Gifford, as well as Lord Byron's poem 'English Bards and Scotch Reviewers'.
With Gifford's popular satirical poems 'The Baviad' and 'The Maeviad', alongside 'Epistle to Peter Pindar' and the authors own memoir of his life.
Illustrated with a frontispiece and engraved title page. Collated, complete.

Condition
Bound in half calf with marbled paper-covered boards. Externally, generally smart, with slight rubbing to the extremities causing a little loss to leather. Endpapers have been renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with a little offsetting and the odd spot to frontispiece and engraved title page. Ink inscription to front blank.
