What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Leather Binding
This anthology contains anecdotes, the life of Sheridan and his table-talk. With a plate to the front pastedown, indicating the loaning of this book 'to be returned to the secretary every Saturday' with a list of typed names. With an engraved frontispiece of Sheridan. Published posthumously, the preface notes that this work 'is intended to comprehend all that is most interesting and piquant about the late Richard Brinsley Sheridan - a person so eminently qualified to form the subject of such a work, that it seems somewhat singular that the present should be the first collection of Sheridaniana'. Sheridan was an Irish satirist, playwright and owner of the London Theatre Royal on Drury Lane. Noted plays by him include 'The School for Scandal' and 'The Rivals'.
