Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume, one folding map to Volume I, and a folding map to the rear of Volume II.
A brilliant exploration of the Mahrattas by James Grant Duff, documenting the complete history of the rise, progress, and decline of the Mahrattas.
Duff researched this work for years, with access to state papers, and family and temple archives, through his connection with the Mahratta chiefs.
Condition
In a modern cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light fading to the spines. A few minor marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots. Institutional stamp to the title pages, final leaves of text, and to a couple of other pages. Repair to the margin of the half-title and the final leaf of text of Volume I, half-title of Volume II. Frontispieces are restored, with a large repaired chip to the frontispiece of Volume I. Folding map of Volume II is repaired with tape to the reverse.
