An uncommon work by the Nonconformist minister Matthew Henry. 

'The Pleasantness of a Religious Life' explores the reasons for and ways in which to lead a pure religious life.

Henry was best known for his six volume biblical commentary titled 'Exposition of the Old and New Testaments'. 'Pleasantness of a Religious Life' was first published in 1714.

Ink inscription of William Augustus Beaufort to the recto of the front endpaper. Beaufort was a Reverend in Ireland.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally, a little worn. Front joint is starting, the spine lifting a little to the tail of the front joint. Light marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. A couple of small chips to the spine label. Front hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Lacking the rear endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean. Ink inscription to the head of the title, and to the verso of the final leaf of text.
