A fascinating study into the history of English poetry, a pioneering and influential work of the time.
Warton's study into the poetry of the Middle Ages and Renaissance was immensely influential, and unrivalled for many years. It is considered that this work helped steer popular literary taste in Britain towards Romanticism.
