The scarce first edition of this topographical thesaurus, an alphabetically organised index of the ancient world. The work lists ancient geographical designations and names, providing alongside this an account of the authors who used them.
The text in this volume is intended to accompany the first eleven plates of Reichard's atlas, a very scarce work also first published in 1824. This is the first and only text volume published.
The work of German cartographer Christian Gottlieb Reichard, who collaborated with Adolf Steiler on a number of geographical and topographical works.
Condition
In the original paper covered boards. Bumping to back strip head and tail and board perimeters. Small closed tear to paper spine label. Small tear to tail of front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
