What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Leather Binding

The novel is across all three volumes and concerns itself with a Scottish archer in the service of the French King Louis XI, and is an excellent example of Scott's historical novels and of the genre as a whole.

With the half-titles to all volumes.

Stated to the title page as being by 'The Author of 'Waverley, Peveril of the Peak' as is frequently found with early Walter Scott works. Sir Walter Scott was best known for his Waverley novels, which were the most popular and widely read novels in Europe for almost a century.

The series was titled Waverley, after the first novel of the series, as Scott did not claim authorship until 1827. Prior to Scott's acknowledgement of his authorship the novels were stated as 'by the author of Waverley' to their title pages.

Condition

In uniform full calf bindings. Externally, very smart. Light rubbing to the joints and extremities. A few light patches of rubbing to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. With just the odd spots.
