Description

Leather Binding

Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) was a Scottish novelist and poet. Scott remains a celebrated figure in Scottish literary history, and the landscape of Scotland features heavily in his works. He was also a political figure, prominent within the Tory establishment, and served as President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh for twelve years, between 1820 and 1832. He was a member of Clan Scott, a prominent Scottish clan.

This work compiles together the poetry written by Scott featured in the author's novels, tales and romances.

Belonged to Margaret Maria Verney (1844-1930), a Welsh educationist known for campaigning for the education of girls in the United Kingdom; she also penned the 'Memoirs of the Verney Family during the Seventeenth Century' and contributed to the Dictionary of National Biography. Verney inherited 'Rhianfa', the house of her father, John Hay-Williams, 2nd Baronet Williams and kept it as a family home. She was married to Sir Edmund Verney, 3rd Baronet, an author, politician and naval officer.
