An interesting work exploring Cromwell's life and the Protectorate, written by a descendent of the subject.

Cromwell led armies against Charles I, was one of the signatures on Charles' death warrant, and serves as the Lord Protector from 1653 until his death in 1658.

This biography also looks at the lives of Cromwell's sons, Richard and Henry.

Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and two plates.

Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, and two plates.

Condition

In a rebacked calf binding. Externally, smart. A little discolouration to the extremities of the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. A few small marks to the spines and boards. A small amount of wear to the extremities of the rear boards. Scattered spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots, heavier to the frontispieces and title pages, with a tide mark to the frontispiece of Volume I.
