Translated from the original French into English. 'Elizabeth' is a romantic historical novel, which, though being wild and romantic, still has a moral tale. Illustrated with a vignette title page. Collated, incomplete, bound without the four plates. Written by Sophie Ristaud Cottin, a popular French author of the nineteenth century. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper.

Condition

In a full morocco binding. Externally, generally smart, with some light rubbing to the boards. Light marks to the boards, heavier to the rear board. A little bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but remains firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the odd spot, and a tidemark to the fore edge of the last few pages.
