'Tales and Romances' in 17 volumes, published 1827-1833. With notes and illustrations, in three volumes published in 1833. With an engraved title page to all volumes. The Waverley Novels are a long series by Sir Walter Scott. They were the most widely read works of their time and remained as popular for nearly a century. This set contains all the Waverley novels such as The Black Dwarf, Rob Rob, The Abbot, The Pirate, Old Mortality and Woodstock. Sir Walter Scott was a Scottish historical novelist, playwright and poet. He was one of the first to have contemporary readers in Europe, Australia and North America.
Condition
In full calf bindings. Rebacked, with the original boards preserved. Externally, generally smart. Shelfwear to the extremities and patches of rubbing to the head and tail of spine. Occasional marks to boards. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are bright. Just the odd spots to pages.
