    Description

    Leather Binding, Pleasing Copy, Rebound

    Henry Fielding was an eighteenth century English novelist known for his satires and comic novels. His most popular and influential work is Tom Jones, which is still greatly appreciated to this day and has received praised by authors such as Samuel Taylor Coleridge and W. Somerset Maugham as one of the best novels ever written.

    A new edition, complete in ten volumes. Scarcely seen complete. 

    Featuring an essay on his life and genius by Arthur Murphy.

    Illustrated with frontispiece portrait to vol. I. Bound without half titles.

    Condition

    Rebound in uniform full calf binding with intricate gilt tooling to spine, titles in gilt to morocco spine labels. Marbled edges and endpapers. Externally very smart with only light rubbing to joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Odd light spotting to occasional leaf, pages otherwise generally bright and clean.
