With the illustrated title page for volume II bound in and therefore lacking the illustrated title page for volume I. Illustrators to this work include Heath, Alken, Dighton and more. Collated, lacking the illustrated title page and plate 'coronation'. This work is an imitation of Pierce Egan's well known novel 'Life in London: or, The Day and Night Scenes of Jerry Hawthorn Esq and his elegant friend Corinthian Tom...'. Egan's work was highly sought after and reached popularity very quickly. Many imitations were issued following the success of the original, and it is regarded that this work is is one of the better imitations. This work serves as a guide to society in London during the seventeenth century and gives an accurate portrayal of scenes and buildings. A lovely work, with beautiful illustrations.
