The second edition of the work. First published the year prior. A scarce work in any early edition. 

Lacking the atlas volume as is common with this work. With a portrait frontispiece, folding map and one further plate. Collated complete, save for the atlas volume. 

Endpapers have been renewed and blanks discarded. Library stamps for 'The Tate Library, Brixton' to title page and the occasional leaf, including all plates. 

Bookplate for one 'R. N. Pemberton' to front paste down.

Written by Giovanni Belzoni, an Italian explorer, known as 'The Great Belzoni'. Belzoni was a renowned archaeologist, specialising in Egyptian antiquities and perhaps best known for his removal of the bust of Ramesses the Second to England. 

Narrative of The Operations and Recent Discoveries in Egypt and Nubia documents Belzoni's many travels in the region including his discoveries of mummies in their original position and the documentation of the tomb of Seti. 

A scarce early edition of this fascinating work, written by a renowned archaeologist.

Condition

Rebound in half morocco. Externally very smart with occasional rubbing to the extremities resulting in very minor lifting to the leather. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Bookplate to front paste down. Library stamps for 'The Tate Library, Brixton' to title page and the occasional leaf, including all plates. Portrait frontispiece is closely trimmed. Scattered spotting, heavier to the folding map.
