The first edition of this work. This work was privately printed.

A very scarce work.

Complete in two volumes.

The collected works of Barbarina Brand, containing her poems, translations of Petrarch's sonnets, and four of her dramas, of which one was performed at Drury Lane.

The performed play was 'Ina', a tragedy. Richard Brinsley Sheridan managed the production in 1815.

Brand, Lady Dacre, was an English poet, a talented woman at many skills, known for being one of the most accomplished and intellectual women of her time. Dacre was also a correspondent of Joanna Baillie, Mary Russell Mitford, and Catherine Maria Fanshawe.

Prior owner's ink inscription to the contents page of Volume I, and to the recto to the front endpaper of Volume II, 'Allunia Merry'.

Errata slip bound to the rear of Volume II.

Letter loosely inserted, '12th April 85, Dear Ted, herewith the Dacre vols which I hope you will find amazing. Though not perhaps as good as the Kepler! Barru'.

Condition

In the original paper covered boards. Externally, with a little loss to the head and tail of the spines. Minor bumping to the extremities. Light discolouration and rubbing to the boards and spines.Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few odd spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the contents page of Volume I, and to the recto to the front endpaper of Volume II.
