Complete in two volumes.

Half-titles are present.

An important study of the history and antiquities of the Tower of London, the imposing monument in the centre of London. 

The Tower boasts a significant history, being fundamental to the timeline of British history and the monarchy. Bayley's work include biographical anecdotes of various royal and distinguished people whose lives were somehow connected to the Tower.

Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, one double-paged plate, twenty-five plates, and some in-text engravings. Collated, complete. One page of adverts to the rear.

Bayley was a noted antiquary.

Binder's label is present, bound before the frontispiece of Volume I. 

Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste downs, 'D. L. Cumming'.

Condition

Rebound in a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with light discolouration and some marks to the boards and spines. Light bumping to the spines and extremities. Spine labels are a little chipped. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots.
