Description

First published in 1781, 'Thoughts Upon Hunting' draws upon the author's own experiences with owning a pack of hounds and foxhunting. This work contains directions for kennel construction, information on hound management and the responsibilities and qualifications required of a huntsman and a whipper-in.

Sir Peter Beckford (1740-1811) was a British huntsman, collector, landowner and writer.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally generally smart, with just some slight rubbing to the spine and extremities. Ownership bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound, with a touch of straining to the front hinge. Pages are generally bright and clean with the odd spot and occasional mark.
