First Edition Thus, Very Scarce. 

This work was originally published in two volumes under the title of 'The Theatrical Banquet, or the Actor's Budget' in 1809. 

This is a wonderful collection of monologues, prologues, tales, and 'rare and genuine' theatrical anecdotes', collected by William Oxberry.

Contents include 'Peeping Tom's Peep into Worthing', 'Address on Closing a Theatre', 'Drunken Oration', and 'An Actor's a Comical Dog'. 

Written by William Oxberry (1784-1824), an English actor who wrote extensively on the theatre. He was connected to well established theatres such as Covent Garden Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, and the Lyceum. 

With two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear of the text.

Collated, complete.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Some wear to the extremities and to the spine, with a bit of loss to the head and tail of spine. Marks to boards, including some light fading. Wear particularly to the rear joint. Discolouration to text block. A few marks to paste downs and endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout, with the odd spot.
