With an engraved frontispiece and title page. Including Table Talk, Expostulation, The Sofa, Truth and many others. William Cowper was a English Poet born in 1731. An extremely successful poet, he could indeed be considered a forerunner to the romantic movement of 18th century. In later life, after being institutionalised for insanity, Cowper found emotional and creative refuge in the Evangelical Church, giving him the inspiration to write hymns.
Condition
In a quarter-calf binding. Externally, sound, though with some bumping and a few marks. Hinges tender, with cords visible. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places. Pages are bright, with just a few instances of foxing.
